“Both of my daughters have been in the care of Nedlands SOEL from babies all the way through to 4yo kindy!
As individuals they could not be more different, yet both of thrived – the artistic freedom, the food, the sleep, the skill progression and the basics of interaction, manners, social awareness have been prevalent in each room they have moved through over time. It’s not easy returning to work, but I’m grateful every day that I can feel so secure in my choice of daycare for my girls. SOEL has prepared them very well for Pre primary and the adventure that lays ahead.”

“My daughter has blossomed attending the Nedlands centre, with her language, emotional & physical development improving everyday.
She loves the carers & educators. I think she prefers going there to staying at home!”
– Jessica S
Nedlands School of Early Learning was established in 1974 by co-director Bernadette Giambazi. It was SOEL’s first centre ever to open. SOEL is an independent family-run business, with Bernadette’s three daughters now working together as Directors overseeing all six SOEL centres.
In time, the demand for SOEL’s Nedlands Childcare Centre was too high. Due to this, the centre relocated to a larger facility on Government Road, where it stands today. The relocation brought Nedlands SOEL into a tailor-made state-of-the-art building designed with child care in mind. In 2001, the centre expanded once again to cater to more significant numbers in early childhood education and care.
2019 saw a much-anticipated refurbishment of our Nedlands child care spaces. With all-new environments inside and out, the building still retains the same child-friendly design and flow. As a result, the renovations have given the centre a renewed vigour for both current and future children. Nedlands SOEL has been considered a model of child care excellence for more than 20 years. Our philosophy emphasises the holistic development of each child, incorporating elements of the Reggio Emilia approach, Rudolf Steiner and Maria Montessori. This approach values children as strong, capable, and resilient individuals, viewing them as active researchers and valued participants in the world around them.
It is this belief that has guided the creation of dedicated spaces, such as Atelier Studios, where children explore, create, and collaborate on projects. These spaces encourage children to learn, grow, and communicate their understanding through art, developing skills that will benefit them for a lifetime.
The kitchen in our Nedlands Childcare Centre is a lovely, light open space that connects to many of the rooms. The central nature of the kitchen allows it to be a communal area.
Therefore it becomes is a space where the children come together to talk about tastes, textures, home life and discuss the day’s activities.
As with all our SOEL centres, we make every effort to source organic fruit and vegetables. All our meals utilise the freshest, local and seasonal products available.
